  • The 16–300mm f/3.5–6.7 DC OS | Contemporary, a full-frame lens, exists already but has been adapted for native Nikon Z mount use. The extraordinary 18.8x zoom range is, obviously, the prime draw for this one. Available November 5th, 2026.

Compact and uncompromising are two watchwords for this everyday-carry APS-C zoom lens. The zoom range may not be all-in-one, but the f/2.8 aperture certainly is, and the range (75–180mm full frame equivalent field of view) covers sweet spots for everything from architecture to fierce portraits and even close-up photography.

Its palm-sized, 13.8 oz body resolves extremely sharp images and video effortlessly. If you haven’t enjoyed the luxurious combination of compression and bokeh offered by fast telephoto lenses, this might be the time to dip a toe in the pool. Just look at those gorgeous sample images below.

The optical stabilization system can suppress up to 6.5 stops of shake; focus breathing is also suppressed, for any interested videographers. Autofocus is powered by Sigma’s quick and pointed HLA motor.

Dust- and weather-resistant design is a given on a lens with this kind of glass, of course.

The 50–120mm f/2.8 DC OS | Contemporary joins the 10–18mm f/2.8 DC DN | Contemporary and 18–50mm f/2.8 DC DN |Contemporary to complete the so-called trifecta of professional-quality, wide-aperture wide-angle, normal, and telephoto lenses, and all three of those lenses together weigh less than 2.2 pounds. Talk about an ideal setup… Close that gap at last!

Nikon shooters, you now have one less reason to be jealous of your Sony-, FUJIFILM-, and Canon-using brethren! All of the roads are open without changing lenses when you pack something with this kind of range—a world’s-first 18.8x, to be precise. Spot a water buffalo while capturing a broad, majestic vista? Zoom right in and snap that sucker too!

The maximum magnification ratio is 1:2, too, which makes it surprisingly capable close up.

The lens’ HLA-driven autofocus (High-response Linear Actuator motor) provides exceptionally fast, smooth and accurate subject acquisition, which, buoyed by the built-in optical stabilization, will greatly aid your quick capture of unexpected and/or quick-footed subjects. The OIS is rated for up to six stops of shake correction.

Not only is the lens physically suited for accurate AF, a special control algorithm has been develped specifically for Nikon camera integration. AF-C and in-camera aberration correction are fully supported.

One more thing: the mount is rubber sealed, for fearless photography!
