A 16.6x zoom range is no kind of range at which to sneeze, and Tamron’s newest lens is bringing that capability to both the Sony E-mount and—for the first time ever—the Fujifilm X-mount. The Sony version of the 18–300mm f/3.5–6.3 (B061) is scheduled for a sale date of September 24th, 2021; the Fuji version will be on sale at a later (to be announced) date.

The lens is designed for cameras with APS-C sized sensors and offers a 27–450mm full frame equivalent field of view. Of course, pure range is not all that matters. Tamron’s VXD linear motion AF system is super fast and super precise, offering performance as satisfying as that broad field of view. Thanks to aspherical and other special lens elements, image quality is top notch across the whole image field.
Most impressive of all, the minimum focusing distance is only 5.9″ (an unbelievable 0.2″ working distance). The resulting 1:2 magnification at the wide end of the lens is quite impressive for an all-in-one lens. Tamron’s well-respected Vibration Control technology certainly helps as well.
As we’ve come to expect from modern Tamron lenses, the 18–300mm features a unified 67mm filter size and a moisture-resistant fluorine coating. The lens is compact, moisture-resistant, and a joy to use. A convenient focus lock button rounds out the package. Stop by a Mike’s Camera near you or click here to pre-order today!
