Introducing… the much-anticipated FE 100mm f/2.8 Macro GM OSS. Pre-order yours today to be among the first to experience the extreme performance of the very first G Master macro lens. The first lenses are anticipated in mid-November.

The SEL100M28GM promises extraordinary resolution, crisply rendered from corner to corner, as well as the uniquely delicate bokeh found in all G Master lenses. The lens is also capable of a breathtaking 1.4x maximum magnification, which can be stretched even further using a separate teleconverter (up to 1.96x with the SEL14TC and 2.8x with the SEL20TC). Check out some of the sample photos, below, and you’ll really be able to wrap your brain about how close that can be. The lens’ minimum focusing distance is 10.32 inches.
The fast, precise, and quiet autofocus system is macro-optimized and driven by four XD linear motors, achieving a lock up to 1.9x faster AF in AF-S mode (compared to the much-loved FE 90mm f/2.8 Macro G OSS) and maintaining accurate tracking while recording movies. The optical image stabilization system has also been improved over that lens. A new control system has been fine-tuned to adjust angle, shift, and depth at a minute level for peak handheld macro performance.

Two XA (eXtreme Aspherical) and two ED (Extra-low Dispersion) elements and a floating focus suppress chromatic aberration like nobody’s business across 100% of the frame, even in an extreme close-up. Sony’s Nano AR Coating II joins in for minimized flare and ghosting—and, of course, the lens is dust- and moisture-resistant. The bright aperture sports 11 blades and, as can be seen in the sample photos, produces outrageously beautiful background separation.

Physical controls include an AF/MF switch, linear-response focus ring (with clutch to jump into FULL MF), DMF switch, focus limiter, stabilization switch, iris lock, iris ring, and two customizable focus hold buttons.
This lens is for people who need a better class of close-up (or who are trying to get quite close to subjects that need a little more working distance). If that’s you, why wait? Order now!
