Nikon’s walkaround lens for storytellers

New from Nikon: “The NIKKOR Z 35mm f/1.4 lens is a natural wide-angle lens with a large f/1.4 aperture that cuts through low light and creates dramatic shallow depth-of-field. Ideal for landscapes and street shots, portraits and groups, it gives you beautifully blurred backgrounds along with edge-to-edge clarity and sharpness. A close focus of just 10.6 inches lets you reveal fine details. This is a lightweight and compact lens designed for the photographer or filmmaker.”

Available July 18th, the NIKKOR Z 35mm f/1.4 wears its advantages right in the name. Its 35mm focal length equally appropriate for street scenes and intimate portraits (especially with that minimum focusing distance of only 10.6″), and its f/1.4 maximum brightness is a cut above. That wide of an aperture offers outstanding control of painterly bokeh and satisfying low-light performance. Users of DX format (APS-C sensor) cameras like the Z fc or Z 30 shouldn’t ignore this lens, either—a 52mm equivalent field of view is also extremely versatile. A nifty fifty with a mega-wide aperture? Yes, please!

Videographers should especially take notice of the STM-driven, quick, silent autofocus as well as the compact form factor, ideal for gimbal use or handheld action capture. Nikon claims that focus breathing has been suppressed, as well.

The customizable clickless control ring enables intuitive operation, and dust- and drip-resistance do the same for FEARLESS PHOTOGRAPHY. (Of course, Mack coverage is still a great idea for the absolute minimum fear.) Check out the sample images below, then reserve yours today!
