New firmware for two RF lenses (astrophotographers take note)

A quick update for astrophotographers interested in optimizing their Canon’s performance: the RF 24–105mm f/4 L IS USM and RF 70–200mm f/2.8 L IS USM have a new firmware update out, which:

Reduces color unevenness when capturing images using long (Bulb) exposure mode with the EOS Ra.

*Manual focus cannot be activated during exposure. Performing zoom operations during exposure may result in an out of focus subject.

Simple but important! Don’t let fixable problems hamper your use of the very cool new EOS Ra, especially if you’re thinking about joining us on one of our epic astrophotography workshops next year (click here to learn more about those).

If you’re not sure whether your lens needs the update, check the version number through your camera’s menu. While you’re at it, take a peek at our reference page and make sure your camera body is up to date, too! If you need any help, we’re only a phone call or quick drive away.
