The Tamron 35–100mm f/2.8 Di III VXD is lightness redefined

Coming soon to the Sony E-mount and Nikon Z-mount: the Tamron 35–100mm f/2.8 Di III VXD. Put the power and beauty of f/2.8 in the palm of your hand!

The zoom lens weighs a smidge under 20 ounces and is only 4.69″ long, yet it covers four major focal lengths: 35 mm, 50 mm, 85 mm, and 100mm. These are especially handy for portrait photographers. Both versions should be available at the end of March (tentatively the 26th—mark your calendars).

The 35–100 mm offers much of what’s beloved about the 35–150mm f/2–2.8 Di III VXD (also available for Sony E and Nikon Z mounts) in a significantly smaller, lighter package (about half the weight!) and at a significantly more accessible price point. Its versatility and compactness scream “travel kit,” and being able to use the f/2.8 maximum aperture across the whole range for supple bokeh and low light action is a huge bonus. A minimum focusing distance of only 8.7″ makes the whole package still more adaptable.

Speaking of focus, Tamron’s VXD autofocus system is high-speed and high-precision, and their excellent tweaking program (the Tamron Lens Utility) allows you to take unprecedented control of not only autofocus features but a whole swath of lens behaviors. If you’re like me, there’s nothing more exciting than hearing that everything is adjustable…

Fluorine and BBAR-G2 coatings promise optical excellence, and a moisture-resistant body means (can you guess?) fearless photography! Plus, if you’re already dabbling in Tamron, the 35–100 mm does indeed share their unified 67 mm filter size, so you won’t need to pack multiple polarizers.
