Save 20% when you save your summer memories—photo books are on fire this month

I can’t believe I’m saying this, but maybe less is more when it comes to books.

As long as you’re talking about price, of course. That’s why Mike’s Camera is offering a 20% discount on all book orders throughout the entire month of August! That’s buy four, get one free—if you’ve got a number of projects in mind, now is the time to get at it. Few categories of items in life have been subject to the level of fascination and respect attributed to books. From the moment the first rough edition appeared in Mainz, there’s been a certain je ne sais quoi that makes whatever’s inside a book somehow more real.

Why not take advantage of that quality and elevate the re-consumption of your invaluable memories?

4x6s are great for making prints real; photo gifts make great gifts, obviously; large and luxurious prints are great for bringing out extraordinary individual images; in short, all the things you can create with us exist to meet the need of an intention. If your intention is to tell a story, to encapsulate the spirit of a [wedding, trip, reunion, quest, project, etc.], then the photo book is absolutely the way to go. My wife and I went all-in on lay-flat photo books to commemorate our wedding, and it astonishes me, eight years later, how viscerally flipping through it once in a while takes me back to that moment.

The effect is certain and repeatable. That’s one example among many. The format—the “book” concept—primes the reader/viewer for a gestalt, and the story behind the collection of photos emerges, more than the sum of its parts.

From simple, saddle-bound paperbacks to satin-finish lay-flats on metallic paper, we’ve got one of the best selections of custom photo book options you’ll find… and our attentive printers make them all by hand, in-house! Click here to browse our covers and configurations, then get started on your design online. Be sure to create an account, so you can save your progress as you go!

And, by the way, you’re not obliged to limit yourself to photos, of course—they’re only “photo books” because you can be confident that we’re printing whatever you design with a special consideration for image quality.

NB: I do mean it about making an account. It’s easy to get really excited and put a lot of effort into your design and then—your laptop dies, the browser crashes, something—and all is lost. While I begrudgingly accept, as a writer, that better work often comes from a cycle of rewrites, that is not necessarily the case when designing a photo book.
