Classic creativity: introducing the Fujifilm X-E5 and XF23mm f/2.8 R WR

As much a fan as I am of the quirkiness of the newly-announced Fujifilm X Half, it’s certainly not the right choice for every photographer. Want something a little more traditionally versatile, but while sacrificing neither portability nor that particular Fujifilm aesthetic? Look no further, oh ye faithful—Fujifilm has remembered you in the halls of research and development, and we are pleased to announce two more imminent new products from Fuji.

  • The Fujifilm X-E5 is the latest in their line of rangefinder-based interchangeable lens digital APS-C cameras. It will come in stealthy all-black or with a retro silver flair and should be available at the end of August body-only or in a kit with the new XF23mm f/2.8 R WR lens.
  • The XF23mm f/2.8 R WR intentionally reproduces the original focal length of the first-ever Fujifilm X-series camera (the X100), with all the improvements in lens tech that have been discovered since then. The lens is slated to be available for purchase on its own (in black or in silver) on December 11th—just in time for holiday gift packages!

The Fuji X-E5 offers the same iconic, retro-inspired rangefinder style of the X100VI and interchangeable-lens flexibility offered throughout the X-E series. With the latest 40.2 MP X-Trans 5 HR sensor and X-Processor 5 at its heart and a host of powerful features to augment it, the X-E5 is a snap choice for stills-focused everyday carry.

The increased resolution in this latest iteration supports the use of built-in 1.4x and 2.0x digital teleconverters, as does the 7-stop IBIS system. A lower base ISO of 125 also combines with the IBIS to provide excellent low light performance. Intelligent subject detection autofocus helps keep operations intuitive—so you don’t have to worry about anything beyond the sensory delights of the analog controls lining the luxury, machined-aluminum top plate.

Choose from over forty X-mount optics to fully take advantage of that iconic Fujifilm look, which is easier than ever to access as the X-E5 is debuting a unique new feature: a dedicated, customizable film simulation dial. Fuji’s most beloved film simulation looks are instantly accessible, plus there are three dial positions for your own custom recipes.

Whether you’ve already got the glass or want the complete package with the new, luxe pancake lens (see below), the X-E5 promises the ultimate everyday carry experience. Order now—if the X-E5 is anything like previous Fujifilm releases, these won’t stay in stock for long!

The XF23mm f/2.8 R WR: a modern classic

Already happily Fujified but in need of a tiny, slightly wide walk-around lens? Look no further. The latest pancake in the X-mount pantheon offers a 34.5mm full-frame equivalent field of view (excellent for street photography) and a cheerily bright aperture. At only 3.2 oz and less than an inch in length, the XF23mm f/2.8 R WR is scarcely more noticeable than a body cap, but offers a lot more to your images—even an aperture ring!

The lens can focus on subjects as close as 7.87 inches, allowing you to fill the frame and take advantage of the wide maximum aperture to create buttery-smooth, bokehlicious backgrounds.

Tie it all together with a frame built to withstand the elements—moisture, freezing temperatures, and harsh conditions are no obstacle to the performance of this little wonder.

This lens was built on user-feedback, too. Fujifilm users, when surveyed, indicated a desire for the X100-series lens in interchangeable form, and here it is. Responsive R&D? What a lovely cherry on top! Click here to reserve yours today.
