Nikon’s newest all-in-one power-zoom for pro videographers

Have you ever been prepping for a shoot—perhaps a sporting event, or a solo documentary—and felt entirely too encumbered by all the gear you might need? Or have you ever been sitting in the editing bay, wishing the extra effort hadn’t prevented you from working in a different focal length?

The NIKKOR Z 28–135mm f/4 PZ combines all your must-have focal lengths in one lightweight, carefully-balanced body, with a powered zoom control to boot. You can actually go all the way to a 270mm-equivalent field of view with no drop in 4K video quality, thanks to the marvels of modern tech. Read on for the details behind that clever trick, and more! We expect this one in April

The body of the lens has been designed so that the center of gravity shifts only a fraction of an inch throughout the zoom range—a huge benefit for body-mounted rigs and, especially, gimbal use. You can also control the zoom with a traditional ring or a rocker switch with 11 selectable speed options. Linear manual focus allows for ultra-precise pulls, which should be largely unaffected by extremely suppressed focus breathing.

About that super-zoom: Nikon’s High-Res Zoom feature takes advantage of the 8K sensor to allow a totally seamless jump to digital zoom when capturing 4K footage. Slowly utilizing a different area of the sensor, there is no quality drop all the way up to a 270mm field of view. Wow!

This versatile lens will let you work smarter, faster, and leaner. If you’re filming on location, you’ll find yourself far less invasive with a simple setup. This is the way to streamline!
