Half-week homework: Traditions

Christmas and New Year’s Day are coming up in the next two weeks and Chanukah is just barely behind us. These holidays (and more!) are couched in a deep history of tradition. You probably know your family’s well, but have you ever stopped to document them? It’s easy to forget that the rest of the world has no inkling of their intricacies, but the feeling of recording and preserving these deeply meaningful experiences is a truly special one. Dedicate part of your celebrations to time with a nice portrait lens, high quality audio recorder, or even a video camera—trust me, you’ll treasure the results later!

The example below is a timelapse I made of my family’s Christmas Eve celebration with an action camera and a GorillaPod. It’s simple, but there are a lot of memories represented therein.

If you want to share your results, we’d love to see them. Comment on our Facebook page, or share to Instagram with #mymikescamera and #halfweekhomework!
