Half-week homework: Rainbows

When I’m out shooting, I spend a lot of time looking for clean, white light, to keep my subjects’ colors more or less the way they naturally are. Light that’s shifted to a particular color can often be a headache, unless you’re trying to convey a particular mood. That being said, some of the most breathtaking scenes I’ve ever seen occur when light splits into all colors of the spectrum. Yes, this week’s challenge is rainbows, whether naturally occurring or artificially refracted. Check out a few from each category in the gallery below, and drop your best shots in the comments or on our Facebook page!

P.S.—If you’re interested in learning more about the science of color perception, check out our FREE seminar on color-calibrating your devices this weekend at our Colorado Photo & Video Expo. As a former lab manager, I’m excited about this one. Click below for more info and to RSVP.
